PC Win Streak Snapped by Undefeated Privateers

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. – The Purchase College men's lacrosse team saw its two-game winning streak come to an end with a 15-2 Skyline Conference setback against the undefeated and reigning league champions, Maritime College, Wednesday night at Reinhart Field.

The Privateers (10-5, 5-0 SKY) netted six unanswered goals in the first quarter and never looked back.

Freshman attacker Kevon Joseph (Brooklyn, NY) finally broke through the ice for Purchase, scoring off the feed from Soleil Gaines (FR/Brooklyn, NY) without a second to spare in the second quarter.

The Panthers found the back of the net again after the break on a man-up opportunity. Cristian Ishoo (5th/Tarrytown, NY) found Joe Ely (SR/North Salem, NY), who ripped a shot past Daresta at 5:58 in the third quarter.

Maritime held a generous lead however, and would add two more goals en route to the 15-2 win.

In addition to recording a man-up goal, Ely paced Purchase with five ground balls.  Riley Donovan (SR/Billerica, MA) secured three ground balls to go along with three caused turnovers.  Goalkeeper Will Boes (SO/Pleasantville, NY) (6-7) was credited with 12 saves in a losing effort.

Parker Reilly led the charge for Maritime with five goals, notching his 100th career point along the way. Connor Tomich also finished with five points on a goal and four assists, while Charles Longo and Brian Drost recorded two goals and one assist apiece. Thomas Kennedy  tallied two goals, while Thomas Pellicci went 11-for-12 on faceoffs and gathered a game-high nine ground balls.

Ben McGrady (10-4) played the first half in goal and made two saves.  Jack Daresta allowed one goal in the third quarter before Michael Monahan recorded four saves in the fourth quarter.
