PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College women's volleyball team was defeated in a non-conference matchup Thursday night, falling to Pratt Institute in straight sets.
Set scores for the contest were 25-18, 25-13 and 25-15.
With the result, the Panthers moved to 2-3 overall. For the Cannoneers, they improved to 3-0.
Purchase opened the night in dominating fashion, scoring seven of the first nine points.
However, as quickly as the Blue and Orange gained the lead, the guests snatched it right back, scoring 13 of the next 14 points to take a commanding lead.
The Panthers rallied late, cutting the deficit to just three points, 21-18, but weren't able to get closer than that.
Following the first frame, Pratt used early runs in the second and third sets to pace the action and earn the victory on the night.
Overall, Purchase finished with 17 kills on -.148 hitting.
Lauren White (JR/Washington, DC) lead the effort with seven kills and four digs.
Lilith Bastek-Ochoa (JR/Sag Harbor, NY) added six aces, five kills and a match-high 14 digs, while
Natalia Leite (FR/Thornwood, NY) recorded 14 assists and four digs.
Up next for the Panthers is a tri-match at Bard College with Albertus Magnus College. Those contests are set to begin at 2 p.m. on September 16th.
