MORRISTOWN, N.J. - The Purchase College women's volleyball team was defeated by Saint Elizabeth University Monday night, dropping the non-conference matchup in straight sets.
Scores for the contest were 25-17, 25-23 and 25-17. With the loss, the Panthers moved to 2-6 overall. For the Eagles, they advanced to 2-4.
On the night, the Blue and Orange hit -.029 with 20 kills.
Leading the way for Purchase was
Lauren White (JR/Washington, DC), who finished with four kills and a match-high 17 digs.
Jessica Scott (JR/Elmsford, NY) also tallied four kills, while adding seven digs, and
Natalia Leite (FR/Thornwood, NY) collected 16Â assists and 10 digs.
Lilith Bastek-Ochoa (JR/Sag Harbor, NY) and
Marcella Pena (FR/Bronx, NY) each finished with three kills and 11 digs apiece.
As for the action on the court, the first and third sets were paced by short but consistent runs by the hosts.
The middle frame was back and forth throughout though, playing all the way to a 22-22 tie. From there, the Panthers dropped three of the next four points to lose the crucial frame.
Up next for the Blue and Orange is the Skyline Conference home opener, as the squad welcomes Farmingdale State College on September 20th at 7 p.m.
