PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's soccer team tied its program record for goals in a game with 10 Monday night, as the Panthers rolled to a massive home win over Medgar Evers College.
The 10 strikes matched what the squad achieved back on October 4, 2011, when the Panthers bested St. Joseph's University-Brooklyn, 10-0.
For Monday night, the Blue and Orange prevailed 10-1, scoring six times in the first half alone.
Individually,
Ermin Mackic (FR/Yonkers, NY) finished with four goals and two assists, as he continued to be a dominating force on offense.
Fellow freshmen
Oliver Broun (Athens, GA) and
Matthew Cuartas (Greenwich, CT) each recorded a pair of goals, while captains
Bart Moroney (JR/Breezy Point, NY) and
Leo Conte (SR/New York, NY) tallied one goal apiece.
In goal,
Adam Tobar (FR/Mineola, NY) finished with a pair of saves during his first collegiate victory.
With the win, the Panthers moved to 5-2 overall. For the Cougars, they dropped to 0-5-1.
Up next for Purchase is a return to Skyline Conference action as the team welcomes Sarah Lawrence College on September 27th at 7 p.m.
