PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College women's volleyball team was defeated in a Skyline Conference matchup Thursday night, as the Panthers fell to the College of Mount Saint Vincent in straight sets.
Scores for the contest were 25-14, 25-21 and 25-13.
With the result, the Panthers moved to 4-9 overall and 2-2 in the Skyline. As for the Dolphins, they improved to 4-5 and 1-1, respectively.
Overall, the Blue and Orange finished with 21 kills on -.014 hitting. On the flip side, Mount St. Vincent totaled 32 kills on .267 hitting.
While the first and third sets were decisively in favor of the guests, the middle frame saw the two sides produce some close action.Â
To begin, the Panthers raced out to early leads of 4-1, 9-4 and 12-8, before the visitors began to rally.
From there, the Dolphins scored five straight to gain the lead, before the two sides traded points to a 14-14 tie score.
Afterwards, the guests scored four points in a row to create separation and held on from there.
Individually,
Lilith Bastek-Ochoa (JR/Sag Harbor, NY) and
Ava Landreth (FR/Brooklyn, NY) each finished with five kills in the effort.
Natalia Leite (FR/Thornwood, NY) recorded 18 assists, while
Maya Brown (FR/Carteret, NJ) totaled a game-high 15 digs.Â
Up next for the Panthers is a home matchup with the Valiants of Manhattanville College on October 2nd at 7 p.m.
