Women's Soccer Opens Skyline in Win Column

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The Purchase College women's soccer team bested Yeshiva University, 6-0, in the Skyline Conference opener Thursday night at Flowers Park.

With the win, the Panthers broke a two-game tie streak to move to 1-0-2 on the season. The host Maccabees fell to 0-4 to start the fall schedule.

Senior midfielder Analie Ingalsbe (West Hurley, NY) broke the game's scoring ice just three minutes into play off the feed from Rebecca Quick (JR/Millbrook, NY). The eventual game-winner was a career-first goal for Ingalsbe.

Less than two minutes later, Quick found the back of the net off a pass from sophomore midfielder Julieth Velasquez (White Plains, NY). Velasquez went on to score the team's fourth goal of the game.

Freshman forward Lindita Selmani (Brooklyn, NY) scored the third and later closed the game with a career-first hat trick to lead the Panther offense.

Freshmen Jessica McHugh (Ellenville, NY) and Alysse Pena (Elmont, NT) scored their first goals as Panthers to cap the list of scorers. McHugh found the back of the net in the 60th minute, while Pena scored on a penalty kick with just under five minutes remaining in regulation.

Starting goalie Carolyn Hough (SO/Massapequa, NY) moved to 1-0-2 on the season after picking up the win Thursday.  In their debut appearances in goal, freshmen Rowe Davenport (New York, NY) and Keziah Samuel (Wingdale, NY) split the 90 minutes of action with Hough.

For Yeshiva, keeper Maayan Berkowitz turned away six shots.

Up next, Purchase travels to Brooklyn College on Saturday for a non-conference game starting at 12 p.m.
