FARMINGDALE, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's basketball team was defeated on the road Wednesday evening, falling to Farmingdale State College by the score of 104-74.

With the result, the Panthers now sit at 8-6 on the year and 2-3 in Skyline Conference matchups. For the Rams, they improved to 13-1 and 5-0, respectively.

The opening three and half minutes saw a ton of back and forth action, as the two sides traded the lead five times during the span.

However, with the score tied at 9-all, Farmingdale nailed back-to-back 3-pointers to create all the separation it needed on the night. 

Over the rest of the first half, the lead grew to as many as 26 points before the Rams carried a 52-32 advantage into the midway break.

In the second half, the Panthers cut the margin to 18 points on a pair of possessions but weren't able to get closer the rest of the way. 

On the night, the Blue and Orange shot 38.3% from the field, but just 25% on 3-pointers. For the Rams, they enjoyed totals of 52.3% and 54.2%, respectively.

Individually, Matthew Phillips (JR/Bronx, NY) paced Purchase with 21 points, four rebounds and three blocks.

Mahamadou Nimaga (SR/Bronx, NY) and Wesley Fulcher (JR/Fishkill, NY) each totaled 11 points in the effort.

Up next for the Panthers is a return to their home court, as they welcome SUNY Old Westbury on January 13th. Tip-off is set for noon.
