FARMINGDALE, N.Y. - The Purchase College women's basketball team lost a hard-fought matchup at Farmingdale State College Saturday by the score 72-45.
With the result, the Panthers are now 1-14 overall and 1-11 in the Skyline Conference. Meanwhile, the Rams advanced to 6-10 and 4-7, respectively.
To open, the teams kept pace through the first six minutes to an 8-8 tied score, before the hosts took control and led 17-12 after the first period.
The Rams steadily increased their score throughout the second to lead at halftime, 37-24.
Following the break, Farmingdale caught fire in the third, establishing a lead that proved too difficult to overcome. After 30 minutes of play, Purchase trailed 59-26.
Despite the margin, the Blue and Orange enjoyed a breakout fourth quarter, outscoring the hosts 19-13. However, the guests ultimately fell 72-45.
On the day, Purchase struggled shooting the ball, going 28.6% overall and 21.4% on 3-pointers. At the free-throw line, the Panthers showcased prowess with a solid 77.8%.
For Farmingdale, they finished with totals of 38.4%, 25%, and 69.2%, respectively.
Individually, Charlee Neb (SO/ Longmont, CO) emerged as the standout performer with a team-high 16 points, eight rebounds and two steals. She contributed three successful 3-pointers.
Kaylena Phagnasay (FY/Fresno, CA) added 11 points along with four rebounds and two steals. Meanwhile, Jessica McHugh (FY/Ellenville, NY) contributed nine points, showcasing her defensive skills with four rebounds and three steals in the effort.
