PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's basketball team was defeated at Manhattanville College Monday night, falling by the score of 91-62.
With the result, the Panthers moved to 8-5 overall and 2-2 in the Skyline Conference. For the Valiants, they jumped to 8-4 and 2-2, respectively.
From the get-go, the hosts raced out to an early lead and never looked back. Manhattanville scored the first six points of the night, and 16 of the first 21 overall.
After falling behind by double digits, Purchase trimmed the margin to just seven points on numerous occasions in the first half, before the Valiants exploded late to lead by 16 points at halftime.
In the second half, the closest margin was 14 points, as the Panthers dropped the Skyline matchup. On the night, the guests shot 35.7% from the field and 43.8% on 3-pointers.
Meanwhile, Manhattanville shot the lights out, finishing with percentages of 56.4% and 58.3%, respectively.
For the Blue and Orange,
Rashid Nikiema (SO/Winooski, VT) led the way with 12 points, four rebounds and two steals.
Isaac Johnson (SR/Bronx, NY) and
Oliver Culliton (JR/Boston, MA) each finished with nine points apiece in the effort.
Up next for the Panthers is more Skyline Conference road action, as the team travels to Farmingdale State College on January 10th. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
