PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – The Purchase College women's soccer team faced a tough challenge against St. Joseph's University-Long Island on Saturday, suffering a 8-0 defeat. With this loss, the Panthers fell to 3-12-2 overall and 1-6-1 in the Skyline Conference, while the Golden Eagles improved to 9-4-1 and 6-2-1, respectively.
The game started out rough for the Blue and Orange, as
Rebecca Quick (SR/Millbrook,NY) was taken out with an injury not even a minute into the match. This setback was compounded shortly after when St. Joseph's quickly established dominance, scoring just one minute and 19 seconds into the game. Despite Purchase's efforts, the first half ended with the Golden Eagles leading 5-0.
The second half saw the hosts continue their relentless attack, adding three more goals to their tally ending the game 8-0.
Goalkeeper
Carolyn Hough (JR/Plainedge, NY) was busy in net, facing a barrage of shots and recording 12 saves against 33 shots from St. Joseph's, including 20 on goal.
The Panthers managed only two shots during the match, both on target, with
Bailey Carlon (JR/Gilbert, AZ) and
Lindita Selmani (SO/Brooklyn, NY) each contributing to the effort.
Next, Purchase will look to rebound as they prepare to host Manhattanville University on October 23rd at 6:00 p.m.
