PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Purchase College women's tennis team faced a tough 7-0 defeat against Farmingdale State in a Skyline Conference matchup on Saturday morning.

However, the day was marked by more than just the competition, as the Panthers took the opportunity to celebrate Senior Day and honor Olivia Menchell (SR/Los Angeles, CA).

Before the match, head coach Mickey Brzov shared kind words, recognizing Menchell's contributions and dedication to the team. Menchell, who was joined by friends and family, was presented with a gift and flowers. The celebration was made even more special with the presence of Purchase College President Milly Peña, who joined in to mark the occasion.

Once the match got underway, Farmingdale quickly took control, sweeping all three doubles matches. Menchell, teamed up with Amelia Perlmutter (SO/Rutherford, NJ) at No. 1 doubles, fought hard but ultimately fell 6-3 in a competitive match.

In singles play, Sierra Blanco (JR/New York, NY) came the closest to putting a point on the board for Purchase, battling through a nail-biting three-set match but narrowly lost 3-6, 7-6 (7-1), 11-9 at No. 5 singles.

With the loss, the Panthers fell to 7-5 overall and 3-2 in the conference, while the Rams improved to 9-4 and 5-0 in Skyline play.

The Blue and Orange will conclude their regular season on October 20th with an away match at Sarah Lawrence College, scheduled for a 2 p.m. start.
