PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Purchase College women's soccer team battled to a gritty 0-0 tie against the College of New York (CCNY) on Wednesday night. The Panthers move to 2-6-1 on the season, while the Beavers stand at 1-6-1 overall.
The first half was an even contest, with both teams feeling each other out, but neither side able to capitalize on their chances. Purchase managed just three shots in the opening 45 minutes, while CCNY recorded six, as both teams battled for control in the midfield.
The intensity picked up in the second half, with the visitors ramping up their offensive pressure, firing 14 shots. However, the Panthers' defense held firm, anchored by goalkeeper Carolyn Hough (JR/Plainedge, NY). Hough made eight crucial saves in the second period alone, finishing the night with 12 saves overall to secure the clean sheet.
Despite struggling to break down CCNY's defense, Purchase had moments of promise, with Bailey Carlon (JR/ Gilbert, AZ), Lindita Selmani (SO/Brooklyn, NY), and Rebecca Quick (SR/Millbrook, NY) leading the team's limited offensive efforts.
The Blue and Orange return to their home turf on Saturday, October 5th, for a noon kickoff against Skyline Conference rival Farmingdale State College.
