PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Purchase College women's soccer team was shut out by Skyline Conference opponent Farmingdale State College on Saturday afternoon, ultimately falling 5-0. The loss dropped the Panthers to 3-10-1 overall and 1-4-0 in conference play, while the Rams improved to 4-6-3 and 3-0-2, respectively.
The game saw Purchase's defensive line tested from the start, as Farmingdale consistently pressured the Panthers, forcing 45 total shots—21 of which were on target. Goalkeeper Jill Creegan (FY/High Falls, NY) started the match and recorded 12 saves in 63 minutes of action. Carolyn Hough (JR/Plainedge, NY) relieved Creegan in the second half, adding four saves of her own, but the persistent attack from the Rams ultimately resulted in five goals.
Offensively, the Panthers struggled to break down the Rams' defense, with their lone shot on goal coming from Jessica McHugh (SO/Ellenville, NY).
The Blue and Orange will look to rebound on October 8th as they travel to Sarah Lawrence College for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
