Men's Soccer Thwarted at Home

PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's soccer team was thwarted at home Saturday afternoon, falling to Manhattanville University in a Skyline Conference matchup by the score of 3-0.

The Valiants struck twice in the first half, once in the 28th minute and again in the 35th to carry a 2-0 margin into the break.

Following halftime, the guests added the final goal in the 70th to solidify their win. 

The Panthers nearly got one back moments later during a breakaway attempt from Yahir Tafoya (FY/Bronx, NY), but the visiting keeper got his outstretched fingers on the shot to make the save.

Overall, the Blue and Orange finished with five shots (two on goal), while Manhattanville compiled 22 shots (10 on goal).

In goal, Nicolas Nunez finished with seven saves in the effort. 

With the result, the Panthers moved to 1-14 overall and 0-11 in the Skyline. For the Valiants, they jumped to 11-6-1 and 9-1, respectively.

Up next for Purchase is the season finale, as the squad hosts Bard College on October 30th at 7 p.m.
