FARMINGDALE, N.Y. - The Purchase College women's volleyball team was defeated in a Skyline Conference matchup Thursday night, falling to Farmingdale State College in straight sets.
Scores for the contest were 25-18, 25-15 and 25-8.
With the result, the Panthers moved to 3-9 overall and 0-2 in the league. For the Rams, they jumped to 8-4 and 2-0, respectively.
On the night, the Blue and Orange controlled the tempo to begin, leading through the midway point of the first set, 13-11.
However, the hosts responded with five-straight points to snatch the lead and held on from there.Â
The second and third frames then went decisively in favor of Farmingdale, as it grabbed the lead early in each stanza and rolled.
Overall, the guests finished eight kills on -.094 hitting, while the Rams finished with 34 and .189, respectively.
Natalia Leite (SO/Thornwood, NY) led Purchase with seven points (four kills, two aces and two block assists), while
Marcella Pena (SO/Bronx, NY) tallied 13 digs in the effort.
Up next for the Panthers is a return home, as the squad welcomes Sarah Lawrence College on October 7th at 6:30 p.m.
