NEWBURGH, N.Y. –The Purchase College women's tennis team secured a decisive 6-1 win over Mount Saint Mary College on Saturday afternoon. With the result, the Panthers improved to 6-2 overall and 2-1 in the Skyline Conference, while the Knights dropped to 4-6 and 1-3, respectively.
In doubles play, Purchase swept all three matches. Amelia Perlmutter (SO/Rutherford, NJ) and Olivia Menchell (SR/Los Angeles, CA) led the way at No. 1 with a 6-4 victory, while Emma Arnaud (JR/YFarmington, NY) and Novalie Nguyen (JR/Macedon, NY) took the No. 2 spot 6-2. Sierra Blanco (JR/New York, NY) and Katelin Smith (SO/Slate Hill, NY) closed out the sweep at No. 3, winning 6-4.
On the singles side, Perlmutter and Menchell both earned straight-set wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. Nguyen and Blanco also claimed victories at No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectively, with Nguyen winning 6-3, 6-2, and Blanco securing a 6-0, 6-2 win. Smith wrapped up the match with a strong 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 6.
Up next, the Panthers return home to face Baruch College on October 8th at 3:30 p.m.
