MORRISTOWN, N.J. - The Purchase College women's basketball team was defeated at Saint Elizabeth University, 72-64, on Saturday afternoon. With the result, the Blue and Orange sit 1-3 overall while the Eagles improved 2-2.
The home team started strong, building a 19-12 lead in the first quarter. The Panthers rallied in the second, narrowing the gap to 33-29 at halftime.
However, the third quarter saw Saint Elizabeth surge ahead with a 21-point effort compared to the visitors 13, entering the final period up 54-42. Despite Purchase's 22-point fourth quarter, the Eagles held firm, sealing the win.
Individually,
Kaylena Steiner (SO/Fresno, CA) tallied 16 points and eight rebounds, going 8-for-12 from the free-throw line.
Charlee Neb (JR/Longmont, CO) added 14 points, four rebounds, and two steals while playing all 40 minutes.
Kendall Larsen (SO/Staten Island, NY) contributed eight points and seven rebounds, with
Jessica McHugh (SO/Ellenville, NY) coming off the bench to provide nine points and five boards.
Purchase out-rebounded the Eagles 47-42 and had 36 points in the paint compared to the hosts' 30.
The Blue and Orange are back on their home court Wednesday, November 20th, when they host their first Skyline Conference match of the season against the University of Mount Saint Vincent. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
