PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College women's volleyball team cruised to a win to celebrate Senior Day Sunday afternoon, besting Yeshiva University in straight sets.
Scores for the contest were 25-11, 25-15 and 25-14.
With the win, the Panthers moved to 6-13 overall and 3-6 in the Skyline Conference. For the Macs, they dropped to 2-12 and 0-9, respectively.
Overall, the Blue and Orange finished with 30 kills on .202 hitting, while the guests recorded totals of 13 and .000.
In all three sets, the hosts enjoyed runs of at least five consecutive points to grab the lead early and also enjoyed double-digit leads in each frame.
Individually,
Helena Carroll (FY/Lancaster, PA) led all players with 13.5 points (10 kills, three aces, one block assist), while
Sadie Weiss (FY/Bronx, NY) added 12 points (five kills, seven aces).
Natalia Leite (SO/Thornwood, NY) collected 14 assists, and
Marcella Pena (SO/Bronx, NY) tallied 10 digs in the effort.
As for the four Purchase seniors,
Lauren White (Thornwood, NY) recorded seven kills,
Lilith Bastek-Ochoa (Sag Harbor, NY) tallied three kills and three aces, and
Angelica Carmona (White Plains, NY) finished with an assist and a dig.
Jess Scott (Elmsford, NY) was not available for the game.
While the senior ceremony typically takes place before a contest, the Panthers delayed until this one wrapped up to allow families to arrive.

Before today's game, the Purchase College women's volleyball team would like to take a few moments to honor its four graduating seniors on Senior Day. The following words were put together by head coach

Our first senior is #17
Jess Scott. A two-year player, Jess has been a dominant presence at the net, known for her powerful blocks and consistent offensive contributions. Scott has been a key player in our success, helping transform our offense and becoming a staple for consistency. She will leave a lasting impact on the program and will always be remembered. For her career, she has appeared in 30 matches, making 28 starts. She totaled 115 points, 82 kills, 63 digs, 22 blocks and 20 aces. Put your hands together for #17

Angelica Carmona. A three-year player, Angelica's calm presence and unwavering support for her teammates made her a trusted friend on and off the court. I will always cherish the countless hours spent together in practice. Her dedication to improving from day one to this year has made her a picture of determination and commitment. Lauren White. Another three-year player, Lauren (Big Cheese) White has been a pivotal player for our team, leading us in kills for three consecutive seasons. Her ability to lead by example on the court was a key factor in rebuilding our program. She was named captain in 2023 and has been a coach's dream. White's infectious positivity and competitive spirit has been an inspiration to the group. She also will be missed but her legacy will always be remembered. For her career, has appeared in 49 games with 47 starts, totaling 228.5 points, 208 kills, 368 digs and 13 aces. Lilith Bastek-Ochoa. As a four year player, Lilith has been a cornerstone of our team, bringing not only skill, but also an incredible work ethic and positive attitude. She was named captain in 2023 and helped establish a strong culture of family. Thank you, Lilith, for your dedication, leadership, and for being an amazing teammate. You will be missed, but your legacy will always remain a part of our program. For her career, Bastek Ochoa has appeared in 67 matches with 49 starts, totaling 283.5 points, 204 kills, 363 digs and 72 aces. Put your hands together for #13
