DELHI, N.Y. – The Purchase College women's basketball team tipped off the 2024-25 season on Friday night with a hard-fought game against Lesley University. Despite the effort, the Panthers fell 58-42.
The game began with a tight defensive battle, with the Lynx edging out Purchase 10-6 in the first quarter. In the second, the hosts hit their stride, outscoring the Panthers 21-9 to take a 31-15 lead into halftime.
Purchase fought to close the gap in the second half but struggled to keep pace with Lesley's momentum. A determined fourth-quarter push saw the Panthers outscore the Lynx 17-10, but they ultimately fell short, with a final score of 58-42.
Individually, Carlye Graff (SR/South Nyack, NY) led the Panthers with 16 points, shooting 7-for-16 from the field and adding three rebounds. Making a strong return from an injury last year, Charlee Neb (JR/Longmont, CO) followed with 14 points, contributing two rebounds and two steals. Halle Greaige (SO/Rye Brook, NY) and Kendall Larsen (SO/Staten Island, NY) led the team on the boards, securing 13 rebounds between the pair.
The Panthers shot 30.4% from the field but struggled from the free-throw line, going 3-for-14. Lesley capitalized on second-chance points and points off turnovers to secure their win.
The Blue and Orange will return to action on Saturday, November 9th, as they continue their SUNY Delhi Tip-Off weekend with a 1 p.m. game against SUNY Delhi.
