BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Purchase College women's basketball team faced a challenging matchup against Skyline Conference rival Sarah Lawrence College, resulting in a 77-50 loss.
The Panthers no stand 2-22 overall and 2-18 in conference play while the Gryphons improved to 8-17 and 8-12, respectively.
The first quarter witnessed the home team capitalizing on their home court advantage, securing an early lead. Purchase fought to narrow the gap and ended the quarter trailing by just three points, 15-12.
However, Sarah Lawrence surged ahead in the second quarter, establishing an 18-point lead by halftime.
Despite halftime adjustments, Purchase struggled to match the Gryphons' pace in the second half, ultimately falling 77-50.
Individually,
Jessica McHugh (FY/Ellenville, NY) led with a team-high 23 points, six rebounds and three steals.
Kaylena Phagnasay (FY/Fresno, CA) andÂ
Carlye Graff (JR/Nyack, NY) contributed 12 and 10 points, respectively, adding to the team's effort.
On the schedule, the Panthers' final game of the season is slated against Pratt Institute on February 24th at 4 p.m.
