PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's volleyball team secured its third-straight win Friday evening, besting The City College of New York in four sets.
Scores for the contest were 25-16, 20-25, 25-20 and 25-14. With the win, the Panthers are now 4-4 overall, while the Beavers dropped to 3-4.
For much of the night, the Blue and Orange seized control and never relented. In the opening set, they raced out to an early lead, more than doubling the guests at one point.
After faltering momentarily in set two, the squad rebounded with a top-notch effort in the third frame, as they closed out the set by scoring nine of the final 10 points.

In the fourth and final stanza of the evening, the Panthers continued their domination as they scored the last four points to take the set and match.
Overall, the hosts hit .197 with 46 kills, as the Beavers managed totals of .084 and 29, respectively.
Leading the charge was
Channing Williams (FY/Neptune, NJ), as he recorded a match-high 20.5 points on 16 kills, three aces and three block assists.
Jael Martinez (FY/Bronx, NY) was right behind with 17.5 points (13 kills, three aces, one block solo and one block assist), while
Tyler Ryan (JR/Port Reading, NY) added 34 assists, 11 digs, four kills, two aces and three block assists.
Up next for the Panthers is a quick turnaround, as the squad is back in action tomorrow (2/24) at Bard College for a tri-match with Buffalo State. The first contest begins at 1 p.m.
