PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's lacrosse team opened the 2024 season with a non-conference loss Saturday morning, falling against the University of Saint Joseph, 25-3.
Ryan Lubowitz (SO/Stamford, CT) netted two of the Panthers' three goals, both in the first quarter.
Kevon Joseph (SO/Brooklyn, NY) scored the third and final goal off an assist from Jayden Morrobel (SR/Bronx, NY) late in the fourth to close out the game.
As for the visitors, they asserted their dominance from the onset scoring the first six goals, before ultimately leading 14-2 at the half.
In his Purchase debut, first-year goalie Sam Erlich (Plainview, NY) faced 34 shots and made six saves. Veteran Will Boes (JR/Pleasantville, NY) shared goaltending duties, encountering 36 shots, stopping 11.Â
Shakim Carr (SO/Brooklyn, NY) had eight ground balls and two caused turnovers, while Charley Jimenez (FY/Hempstead, NY) added an assist.
With the result, the Panthers are now 0-1, while the Bluejays are 1-0.
The Blue and Orange will travel to SUNY Delhi on February 29th for their next game starting at 6 p.m.
