Panthers Fall to SUNY-Delhi

PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's lacrosse team squared off against SUNY-Delhi on Thursday afternoon, ending in a 14-5 defeat.

Following this outcome, the Blue and Orange are now 0-2, while the visitors improved to 2-0.

At the start of the game, both sides vied for control and dominance on the field. Despite the Broncos taking an early lead, Shakim Carr (SO/Brooklyn, NY) managed to score a crucial goal for the Panthers towards the end of the first quarter, 2-1.

Carr continued to make an impact, assisting Zach Collins (JR/Victor,NY) for Purchase's second goal late in the second quarter, before netting his own unassisted goal, bringing the score level to 3-3 at halftime.

However, SUNY-Delhi seized momentum early in the second half, capitalizing on a fast break to notch a quick goal. They added two more before Dylan Cassone (FY/Farmingdale, NY) responded with the home team's lone goal of the quarter, narrowing the deficit to 6-4.

The Panthers conceded three more goals before the period concluded, trailing 9-4.

The Broncos widened their lead further with an additional fast break goal early in the fourth. Although Collins responded swiftly with an assist from Cassone, Purchase struggled to capitalize on further opportunities, while SUNY-Delhi managed to score four more goals, sealing their victory with a final score of 14-5.

Individually, Carr and Collins led the scoring for the Blue and Orange with two goals each, while Cassone contributed one goal and one assist.

Niko Sfugaras (JR/Florida, NY) stood out with a team-high four groundball pickups.

Up next, the Panthers will host Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts on March 6th at 6 p.m.
