BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's basketball team pushed its winning streak to three games Saturday afternoon, after topping St. Joseph's University-Brooklyn, 90-78.
With the win, the Panthers are now 12-10 overall and 6-7 in the Skyline Conference. For the Bears, they dropped to 5-16 and 4-8, respectively.
On the day, the two sides traded the lead early, before the Blue and Orange grabbed the advantage for good five minutes in.
During the first half, the guests extended their margin to as many as 18 points, leading by the same total at the break, 50-32.
Following halftime, the Panthers continued hold a comfortable lead, as they held a double-digit margin nearly the entire 20-minute period.
In the end, Purchase settled for a 12-point victory, 90-78, as it closed out the week with three-straight victories.
Overall, the Blue and Orange shot the lights out, finishing with marks of 52.5% from the field and 56.5% from long distance. For the hosts, they compiled totals of 43.3% in both areas.
Individually,
Rashid Nikiema (SO/Winooski, VT) continued his breakout campaign, as he finished with a career and game-high 30 points and five rebounds.
Matthew Phillips (JR/Bronx, NY) added 14 points and seven rebounds, while
Oliver Culliton (JR/Boston, MA) totaled 12 points, seven rebounds and two steals.
Up next for the Panthers is the team's home finale and Senior Night, as they host Manhattanville College on February 6th at 8 p.m.
