PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's volleyball team opened up its home schedule with a loss Wednesday evening, falling to Wilkes University in straight sets.
Set scores for the contest were 25-16, 25-10 and 25-14. With the result, the Panthers now sit at 1-3 overall, with the Colonials at 7-2.
The Blue and Orange opened the contest with their best frame of the night, as they hit .174 with 10 kills.
Despite their best effort, the guests' offense proved to be too potent, as it finished with totals of .565 hitting and 13 kills in the frame.
From there, Wilkes cruised in the middle frame, before a big run midway through the final set put the match away.
Overall, the Colonials tallied 40 kills on a .479 hitting percentage, while Purchase finished with 18 kills and -.016 hitting.
Individually,
Channing Williams (FY/Neptune, NJ) finished with a team-high 8.5 points (seven kills, one ace and one block assist).
Tyler Ryan (JR/Port Reading, NJ) added 11 assists and three digs, while
Jael Martinez (FR/Bronx, NY) tallied six digs and three kills.
Up next for the Panthers is a road contest at Baruch College on February 13th at 6 p.m.
