PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College women's basketball team was defeated by Mount Saint Mary College Thursday night, by the score of 69-44.
With the result, the Panthers now sit at 2-19 overall and 2-16Â in Skyline Conference. The Knights moved up 15-7 and 14-3, respectively.
Individually, Aysiah Clinton (FY/Portland, OR) and Kaylena Phagnasay (FY/Fresno, CA) added 11 points each to the scoreboard.Â
Jessica McHugh (FY/Ellenville, NY) added eight points to the effort, while she and Phagnasay both secured eight rebounds.Â
Overall, the Blue and Orange shot 43.2% from the field. For the visitors, they finished at 40.3%.
After tipoff, Mount Saint Mary quickly surged ahead by scoring the first nine points and continued its scoring streak throughout the quarter, to lead 24-5.
Despite the deficit, the home team fought to trim the margin to 15-points in the second half.
However, Purchase never got closer and the Knights ultimately secured a decisive 69-44 victory.Â
While the Panthers fell short, the score shows an huge improvement since they faced Mount Saint Mary back in November when they lost by 58 points.Â
Up next, the Purchase will travel to St. Joseph's University-Brooklyn on February 10th at 1 p.m.
