MAHWAH, N.J. - The Purchase College men's tennis team faced a setback against Ramapo College on Thursday afternoon, enduring a defeat with a final score of 9-0.
With the result, the Blue and Orange are now 0-2 overall, while the Roadrunners moved to 1-0.
Ramapo secured victories in all three doubles matchups, claiming 16 out of the 20 games played.
Despite a determined effort from
Yuta Kawamura (SO/Old Greenwich, CT) and
Steve Mains (JR/Mount Kisco, NY) playing at the No.1 doubles spot, they were ultimately defeated 8-4.
In singles matches, Kawamura narrowly missed entering the third set during a 6-6 second set tiebreaker, ultimately losing 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) at No.1 singles.
Mains, competing at No.2 singles, showcased determination but fell short 6-4, 6-2.
Pedro LLonch-Vidalle (SO/New York, NY) encountered a challenging match at No.5 singles, ultimately defeated 6-4, 6-2.
