Panthers Drop Match Against Ramapo

MAHWAH, N.J. - The Purchase College men's tennis team faced a setback against Ramapo College on Thursday afternoon, enduring a defeat with a final score of 9-0.

With the result, the Blue and Orange are now 0-2 overall, while the Roadrunners moved to 1-0.

Ramapo secured victories in all three doubles matchups, claiming 16 out of the 20 games played.

Despite a determined effort from Yuta Kawamura (SO/Old Greenwich, CT) and Steve Mains (JR/Mount Kisco, NY) playing at the No.1 doubles spot, they were ultimately defeated 8-4.

In singles matches, Kawamura narrowly missed entering the third set during a 6-6 second set tiebreaker, ultimately losing 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) at No.1 singles.

Mains, competing at No.2 singles, showcased determination but fell short 6-4, 6-2.

Pedro LLonch-Vidalle (SO/New York, NY) encountered a challenging match at No.5 singles, ultimately defeated 6-4, 6-2.

Up next, the Panthers will host their home opener against York College on March 26th at 3 p.m.
