Men's Lacrosse Denied Victory at Cairn

LANGHORNE. P.A. - In their faceoff against Cairn University on Saturday afternoon, the Purchase College men's lacrosse team experienced a challenging contest, ultimately resulting in a final score of 12-5.

With the result, the Blue and Orange fell to 1-5 overall, while the home team improved to 2-4.

On the day, the Panthers demonstrated a commendable offensive effort, outshooting the Highlanders 28-21.

However, they were unable to breach the defense orchestrated by Cairn's goalkeeper, who amassed an impressive 23 saves.

The Highlanders wasted no time seizing the lead in the first quarter with five goals while defending against 11 shots from Purchase's offense.

Despite the setback, the Panthers made some quick adjustments between quarters which led to their sole goal of the half. Meanwhile, strong defensive play limited Cairn's scoring opportunities, culminating in a halftime score of 5-1.

The second half saw both teams trading goals however, the Highlanders surged ahead at the start of the final quarter, locking in their victory to end the game 12-5.

Individually, Zach Collins (JR/Victor, NY) led the team with a team and career-high six ground balls, while adding one goal and one assist.

Contributions to the offensive effort were also made by Mark Piccolino (FY/Staten Island, NY), Dylan Cassone (FY/Farmingdale, NY), Ryan Lubowitz (SO/ Stamford, CT) and Steven Sanchez (FY/Queens, NY) who all added one goal apiece.
