ALLENTOWN, Penn. - The Purchase College women's lacrosse team lost a non-conference matchup Saturday afternoon, falling to Cedar Crest College by the score of 14-3.
With the result, the Panthers are now 0-4 overall. For the Falcons, they jumped to 3-0.
From the very beginning, the hosts raced out to a big lead and never looked back. They scored five goals in the first quarter and five more in the second to lead 10-0 at halftime.
Following the break,
Alyssa Kozak (SR/East Meadow, NY) broke the scoreless streak for Purchase with an individual effort just a minute into the third period.
From there, the hosts scored three of the next four goals, as
Julieth Velasquez (SO/White Plains, NY) added the Panthers' second of the day.
In the fourth quarter, Velasquez added another strike, this time off a feed from Kozak, to make it 13-3, before one last tally from the Falcons pushed the margin to its final total.
Individually, Kozak finished with two points (1g, 1a), three ground balls and three draw controls.
On defense,
Elaina Coppola (SR/White Plains, NY) tallied three ground balls and two caused turnovers, while
Amani Jamal (JR/Hopewell Junction, NY) recorded 16 saves and three ground balls.
Up next for the Panthers is a return home as they welcome Albertus Magnus College on March 19th. That game is set to begin at 6 p.m.
