PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's volleyball was bested at home Monday evening, falling to St. Joseph's University-Long Island in straight sets.
Scores for the contest were 25-15, 25-11 and 25-7.
With the result, the Panthers moved to 14-10 overall and 9-4 in Skyline Conference games. For the Golden Eagles, they now stand at 17-6 and 12-1, respectively.
From the get-go, the visitors jumped out to a big margin and never looked back. In set one, they scored six of the first seven points, before putting Purchase away for good midway through.
The second and third sets were all St. Joseph's, as early advantages carried throughout.
In total, the Blue and Orange finished with 18 kills on a negative hitting percentage. For the Golden Eagles, they totaled 35 kills on a .534 hitting mark.
Individually,
Tyler Ryan (JR/Port Reading, NJ) recorded a team-high five kills and an ace, while
Udel Phillips (FY/Far Rockaway, NY) added four kills.
Aidan Araza (FY/Jersey City, NJ) collected nine assists, as
Jael Martinez (FY/Bronx, NY) totaled five digs and three kills in the effort.
Up next for the Panthers is another home Skyline Conference matchup, as the squad welcomes the Panthers of SUNY Old Westbury on March 27th. That game is set to begin at 7 p.m.
