PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's volleyball team set a program record for wins in a season Wednesday night, as the Panthers earned their 15th win of 2024 by sweeping SUNY Old Westbury.
Set scores for the contest were 25-18, 25-16 and 25-15. The previous wins mark was set back in 2017, when the squad finished 14-9 overall.
As for this season, Purchase now stands at 15-10 overall and 10-4 in Skyline Conference games. For the Panthers of Old Westbury, they dropped to 2-16 and 2-11, respectively.
On the night, the Blue and Orange dominated offensively to the tune of 52 kills on .449 hitting.
In all three sets, the hosts enjoyed a big scoring run of at least five points of more to set the pace and give them the necessary space to claim each frame.
Individually,
Tyler Ryan (JR/Port Reading, NJ) finished with game-high totals in points (19), kills (15), digs (10) and aces (4).Â
Meanwhile,
Jael Martinez (FY/Bronx, NY) and
Channing Williams (FY/Neptune, NJ) each added 13 kills apiece.
Aidan Araza (FY/Jersey City, NJ) collected 24 assists, while
Mauricio Ramirez (FY/Passaic, NJ) tallied 18 assists in the win.
Up next for the Panthers is more Skyline action, as the team travels down the road to face Manhattanville College on April 1st at 6 p.m.
