Overtime Victory for Men's Lacrosse at Bryn Athyn College

BRYN ATHYN P.A.- The Purchase College men's lacrosse team secured their victory over Bryn Athyn College in a double-overtime showdown on Wednesday evening.

Following the result, the Panthers' record now stands at 3-5 overall, while the Lions moved to 2-2.

The game kicked off with Kevon Joseph (SO/Brooklyn, NY) scoring the first two goals for the Blue and Orange.

In the second quarter, Bryn Athyn responded, but Ryan Lubowitz (SO/Stamford, CT) and Shakim Carr (SO/Brooklyn, NY) managed to net two more goals for Purchase to lead at halftime 4-2.

Lubowitz scored the lone goal of the third quarter before the Lions found some steam heading into the fourth.

As the fourth quarter began, the home team scored early before Mark Piccolino (FY/Staten Island, NY) found the back of the net. The Lions would score twice before an own-goal brought the score to 7-5.

Motivated by the error, Bryn Athyn scored two more goals late in the period, forcing the game into overtime.

In the first four minutes of overtime, neither team could find the back of the net.

However, two minutes in the sixth period, Lubowitz assisted Carr, who scored the game-winning goal.

In goal, Will Boes (JR/Pleasantville, NY), solidly defended the net facing 21 shots, saving 14 and only allowed 7 goals. His record is now 3-4.

Leading the offensive charge were Carr and Lubowitz, both tallying two goals and one assist each.

Additionally, Soleil Gaines (SO/Garrison, NY) contributed to the effort with six ground balls and two caused turnovers.

The Blue and Orange will enjoy a brief break before they tackle their first Skyline Conference matchup against the University of Mount Saint Vincent on April 6th at 3 p.m.
