PURCHASE N.Y. - The Purchase College men's lacrosse team hosted Maritime College on Saturday afternoon and ultimately fell 20-2.
Following the outcome, the Panthers' overall record now stands at 3-8, with a conference record of 0-3. Meanwhile, the Privateers improved to 7-5 and 3-1, respectively.
The Blue and Orange were overwhelmed from the start as the visitors came out fast on the draw and scored several quick goals to take the lead.
By halftime, Maritime led 17-0.
Determined not to be shut out,
Ryan Lubowitz (SO/Stamford, CT) would take advantage of a man-up situation to score the Panther's first goal of the game late in the third quarter.
The next and final goal of the game would come from
Soleil Gaines (SO/Garrison, NY) as
Sam Erlich (FY/Plainview, NY) managed to save any final attempts by the Privateers to bolster their stats, resulting in a 20-2 final score.
Individually, Lubowitz lead the offense with six shots, three ground balls and one goal.
Shakim Carr (SO/Brooklyn, NY) contributed three caused turnovers and two ground balls, while Gaines added two ground balls, one caused turnover, and one goal.
In goal,
Will Boes (JR/Pleasantville, NY) made 8 saves and allowed 16 goals before being substituted by Erlich, who finished with 11 saves and allowed 4 goals. Together, they faced a total of 62 shots.
Up next, the team will travel to Kings Point to take on the United States Merchant Marine Academy on April 17th at 7 p.m.
