KINGS POINT, N.Y. - The Purchase College women's lacrosse team was defeated Saturday afternoon, dropping a Skyline Conference matchup at the United States Merchant Marine Academy, 19-0.
With the result, the Panthers are now 1-11 overall and 0-6 in the league. For the Mariners, they jumped to 9-2 and 6-0, respectively.
For the hosts, they raced out to 11 first quarter goals, before carrying a 14-0 lead into halftime.
On the day, the Blue and Orange finished with four shots overall in the effort.
Leading the way was
Julieth Velasquez (SO/White Plains, NY), who tallied two shots, two ground balls and six draw controls.
Alyssa Kozak (SR/East Meadow, NY) and
Elaina Coppola (SR/White Plains, NY) each recorded two ground balls and two caused turnovers.
In goal,
Amani Jamal (JR/Hopewell Junction, NY) collected eight saves, eight ground balls and three caused turnovers.
