Men's Lacrosse Overpowered by Manhattanville

PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's lacrosse team was overpowered by Anderson Hill Road rivals, Manhattanville University, on Tuesday night, by the score of 24-7.

With the result, the Panthers are now 3-11 overall and 0-6 in the conference. For the Valiants, they improved to 8-8 and 4-2, respectively.

The visitors surged ahead in the first quarter, securing the first three goals of the game. Purchase managed to respond with a goal from Mark Piccolino (FY/Staten Island, NY), narrowing the deficit to just two goals. However, Manhattanville quickly retaliated with two more goals before Zach Collins (JR/Victor, NY) netted a goal for the Panthers. Despite Ryan Lubowitz (SO/Stamford, CT) adding another goal for Purchase, the visitors maintained a 6-3 lead at the end of the quarter.

Lubowitz and Piccolino contributed two more goals for Purchase in the second quarter, but the Valiants' offense proved too strong, extending their lead to 13-5 by halftime.

In the second half, Manhattanville continued to dominate, adding 11 more goals to their tally. Purchase managed to score two more goals, courtesy of Shakim Carr (SO/Brooklyn, NY), but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit, with the final score settling at 24-7.

On the day, the Blue and Orange recorded a total of 26 shots and 32 ground balls in the effort.

Piccolino and Carr led the offense with two goals and one assist each, while Lubowitz contributed two goals and four ground balls.

In goal, Will Boes (JR/Pleasantville, NY) achieved a significant milestone, securing his 500th save of his collegiate career and maintaining a .500 save percentage for the game. Alongside Sam Erlich (FY/Plainview, NY), the goalie duo faced a total of 60 shots.

For their final matchup of the season, the Panthers will honor their seniors as they host Mount Saint Mary College on April 27th at noon.
