JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Purchase College Women's Soccer team kicked off their 2024 season with a challenging road match against New Jersey City University (NJCU) on Friday afternoon, ultimately falling 6-0.
NJCU took control early, with Ari Flores-Ortiz scoring in the 9th minute, assisted by Nyrohah Alvarenga. The Gothic Knights maintained their lead with additional goals from Kim Brites, Gabrielle Cardona—who completed a hat trick—and Arianna Chavez.
Against the relentless barrage, 44 shots (21 on goal), Panther junior goalkeeper Carolyn Hough (JR/Plainedge, NY) delivered a remarkable performance, making 15 saves.
The Blue and Orange are on the road again to Rutgers University-Newark on September 1st, at 5 p.m.
