PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Purchase College women's soccer team suffered a narrow 1-0 loss to Bard College on Tuesday evening. With the result, the Panthers dropped to 1-4-0, while the Raptors improved to 2-2-0.
Despite a competitive first half, neither team could find the back of the net until Bard converted a penalty kick just before halftime, putting the Raptors up 1-0.
The Blue and Orange came out strong in the second half, generating several chances, but they couldn't find the equalizer. After 90 minutes, the game ended 1-0 in favor of Bard.
Individually, Julieth Velasquez (JR/Bronx, NY) led Purchase with five shots. Lindita Selmani (SO/Brooklyn, NY) and Jess McHugh (SO/Ellenville, NY) each added two shots.
Goalkeeper Carolyn Hough (JR/Massapequa, NY) kept the Panthers competitive with nine saves.
The Blue and Orange will return to action on September 14th for a 1:00 p.m. game at Centenary University.
