NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Purchase College women's volleyball team earned its first win of the season Tuesday night, besting The City College of New York in four sets.
Scores for the contest were 16-25, 25-21, 25-12 and 25-15. With the win, the Panthers are now 1-1 on the young season. For the Beavers, the dropped to 0-1.
After starting with an opening-set loss, the Blue and Orange quickly found their groove in set two and rolled from there.
Their best frame of the night came in the third, as the guest recorded 11 kills on .188 hitting. Overall, Purchase totaled 32 kills on .073 hitting, which easily outpaced CCNY's numbers of 25 and -.016, respectively.
Individually,
Kalyn Cormier (SR/Houston, TX) led the way, as she recorded a match-high 16 kills on .278 hitting, while
Helena Carroll (FR/Lancaster, PA) added 20 assists.
For digs, the trio of
Marcella Pena (SO/Bronx, NY),
Sadie Weiss (FR/Bronx, NY) and
Maya Brown (SO/Carteret, NJ) each totaled 12 apiece in the win.
Up next for the Panthers is one more road game before the home opener, as they travel to Brooklyn College on September 12th at 7 p.m.
