PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College women's volleyball team was defeated in its home opener Monday evening, falling to Western Connecticut State University in straight sets.
Scores for the contest were 25-19, 25-4 and 25-10. With the result, the Panthers dropped to 1-3 overall, while the Wolves moved to 5-5.Â
The opening set was tightly contested, before a late run gave the guests the early advantage. From there, WestConn took control for good as it cruised in the second and third frames to earn the victory.
For the Blue and Orange, they finished the night with 19 kills on .080 hitting, while the Wolves compiled totals of 39 and .353, respectively.
Individually,
Kalyn Cormier (SR/Houston, TX) finished with five kills and three digs, while
Sadie Weiss (FY/Bronx, NY) added four kills and six digs.
Natalia Leite (SO/Thornwood, NY) collected 15 assists and
Marcella Pena (SO/Bronx, NY) totaled 11 digs.
Up next for the Panthers is more home action, as the squad welcomes Baruch College on September 19th. That game begins at 7 p.m.
