PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College women's volleyball was defeated in a non-conference matchup Thursday evening, falling to Baruch College in four sets.
Scores for the contest were 25-21, 17-25, 25-19 and 25-18. With the result, the Panthers moved to 1-4 overall, while the Bearcats jumped to 4-3.
All four sets were tight contests throughout, before a late run allowed the winning team to pull away each time.
For the hosts, their best set came during the second frame, as they not only earned the win but did so with 12 kills and .286 hitting percentage.
For the guests, they were consistent throughout the contest, but used a match-high 16 kills in set four to seal the win.
Overall, Baruch hit .222 with 52 kills, while Purchase recorded totals of .169 and 41, respectively.
Individually,
Kalyn Cormier (SR/Houston, TX) finished with a match-best 16 points, 14 kills and four block assists.
Helena Carroll (FY/Lancaster, PA) added 21 assists and four aces, while
Lauren White (SR/Washington, DC) collected 15 digs and nine kills.
Up next for the squad is the first tri-match of the season, as it heads sound to face Keystone College and FDU-Florham in Pennsylvania. Those matches are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. on September 21st.
