PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Purchase College women's tennis team earned a decisive 6-1 victory over John Jay College on Tuesday afternoon.
The Panthers started strong in doubles play, taking two of the three matchups. At No. 1 doubles, the pairing of Amelia Perlmutter (SO/Rutherford, NJ) and Olivia Menchell (SR/Los Angeles, CA) secured a 6-1 win, while Emma Arnaud (JR/Farmington, NY) and Novalie Nguyen (JR/Macedon, NY) dominated at No. 3 with a 6-0 sweep.
Menchell (No. 2), Arnaud (No. 3), Sierra Blanco (JR/New York, NY) at No. 5, and Katelin Smith (SO/Slate Hill, NY) at No. 6 all cruised to straight-set victories, each conceding no more than two games. Nguyen capped off a tight battle at No. 4 singles, edging her opponent 7-5, 7-6.
Up next, the Blue and Orange return to their home court on Saturday, September 21st, to face Hunter College at 11:00 a.m.
