Panthers Dispatched at Sarah Lawrence

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's soccer team was defeated by Sarah Lawrence College Saturday afternoon, falling to the Skyline Conference foe by the score of 6-3.

With the result, the Panthers now have a record of 1-5 overall and 0-4 in league play. For the Gryphons, they jumped to 3-5 and 1-1, respectively.

The action started very quickly, as the hosts found the back of the net in just the second minute.

Sarah Lawrence then proceeded to add goals in the 17th and 29th minutes to take a commanding lead, but the Panthers never gave up on the fight.

In fact, just one minute later in the 30th, Yahir Tafoya (FY/Bronx, NY) scored his first of the game on a solo effort.

The Gryphons weren't going to be denied in the win though, as they recorded their fourth goal in 38th minute and the fifth in the 63rd.

For the Blue and Orange, they managed to get two goals back, as Liam George (SR/Brooklyn, NY) scored in the 72nd, while Tafoya added to his tally in 81st off a feed from Leo Conte (5th/New York, NY).

The hosts then added one last strike in the 87th to seal the 6-3 win.

On the day, Purchase outshot Sarah Lawrence 17-13 overall, while both sides each finished with eight shots on goal.

Jack Gjokaj (SR/Thornwood, NY) tallied two saves in the effort.

Up next for the Panthers is more Skyline action, as they host St. Joseph's University-Long Island on September 25th at 6 p.m.
