PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's soccer team was defeated at home Wednesday night, falling to St. Joseph's University-Long Island in a Skyline Conference matchup, 6-1.
With the result, the Panthers are now 1-6 overall and 0-5 in the league. As for the Golden Eagles, they are 4-1-2 and 3-0, respectively.
The guests opened the contest with a strike in the fifth minute, before doubling the margin just four minutes later.
The lead grew even larger in the 15th minute, as St. Joseph's scored again making it, 3-0.
From there, the Golden Eagles added one more before halftime, and two in the second half to secure the win.
For the Blue and Orange, they managed a goal of their own late, as
Daniel Philosoph (FY/Wilton, CT) scored off a feed from
Martin Nikprelaj (FY/Bedford, NY) in the 78th.
Overall, shots favored the guests by the margin of 30-8 and 15-2 on goal. In goal,
Jack Gjokaj (SR/Thornwood, NY) finished with nine saves.
Up next for the team is more Skyline action, as the team travels to Old Westbury this weekend. That contest is scheduled for September 28th at 1 p.m.
