PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College women's volleyball team was defeated in a non-conference matchup Monday night, falling to Saint Elizabeth University in straight sets.
Scores for the contest were 25-20, 25-10 and 25-16. With the result, the Panthers moved to 1-7 overall. For the Eagles, they now sit at 6-5.
To begin, the opening set played out closely, as the two sides tied to 13-all. From there, the guests began to slowly pull away with four-straight points.Â
The Blue and Orange did manage to trim the margin to just two points, 18-16, but ultimately fell at the end.
The middle set was decisively in favor of Saint Elizabeth, as they scored 14 of the final 16 points to secure the win.
Finally, the last frame began close once more, before Purchase fell behind midway through and was unable to catch up.
Overall, the hosts finished with 26 kills on .083 hitting, while the Eagles recorded totals of 31 and .214.
Individually,
Kalyn Cormier (SR/Houston, TX) finished with a team-high nine kills, while
Helena Carroll (FY/Lancaster, PA) added eight kills, 15 assists and nine digs.
Up next for the Panthers is more non-conference action, as the squad heads to York College on September 26th at 6 p.m.
