JAMAICA, N.Y. - The Purchase College women's volleyball team secured a convincing win Thursday night, rolling past York College in straight sets.
Set scores for the contest were 25-8, 25-6 and 25-13. With the win, the Panthers are now 2-7 on the year, while the Cardinals dropped to 1-7.
The Blue and Orange opened the contest with their best outing, hitting .261 with nine kills. Over the frame, they enjoyed four separate runs of four points or more, as they easily took the initial frame.
From there, the floodgates opened for the guests.
In set two, they scored 19 of the final 20 points, while the final stanza saw Purchase build an early advantage and cruise.
Overall, the guests finished with 17 kills on .191 hitting. For York, the hosts recorded totals of six kills and -.412, respectively.
Individually,
Jess Scott (SR/Elmsford, NY) and
Sadie Weiss (FY/Bronx, NY) each finished with four kills apiece, while
Natalia Leite (SO/Thornwood, NY) recorded a career-high 10 aces.
Up next for the Panthers is another non-conference matchup, as the squad hosts Lehman College on September 28th at noon.
