NEWBURGH, N.Y. – The Purchase College women's soccer team suffered a 4-0 defeat to Mount Saint Mary College in Skyline Conference action on Wednesday night. The loss dropped the Panthers to 3-7-0 overall and 1-2-0 in the Skyline, while the Knights improved to 3-5-2 and 2-1-1, respectively.
Mount Saint Mary seized control early, finding the back of the net just over six minutes into the contest. From there, Purchase's defense faced relentless pressure, absorbing 35 shots throughout the match.
Offensively, the Panthers struggled to generate momentum, managing just three shots, with the lone shot on goal coming from Maggie Obman (SO/Scotia, NY). The other two attempts were taken by Emily Giron (SO/Newburgh, NY) and Lindita Selmani (SO/Brooklyn, NY).
Goalkeepers Jill Creegan (FY/High Falls, NY) and Carolyn Hough (JR/Plainedge, NY) combined for six saves in an admirable defensive effort.
The Blue and Orange are on the road again September 28th for a Skyline Conference match, traveling to the United States Merchant Marine Academy for a noon kickoff.
