NEW HAVEN, C.T. – The Purchase College women's soccer team was defeated at Albertus Magnus College on Monday night, by the score of 4-1. With the result, the Panthers dropped to 3-9-0 overall, while the Falcons improved to 6-3-1.
The Blue and Orange struggled to find their footing early, conceding three goals in the first 22 minutes. Purchase mustered a few shots late in the period, but the momentum stayed with Albertus Magnus, 3-0.
After the break,
Emily Giron (SO/Newburgh, NY) came out strong and netted Purchase's only goal in the 46th minute. However, the Falcons quickly responded with their fourth goal and continued to apply pressure, firing 12 more shots before the final whistle, 4-1.
Giron (SO/Newburgh, NY) led the Panthers' offense with two shots, including one on goal, resulting in her lone tally of the game.
Jessica McHugh (SO/Ellenville, NY) also contributed a shot on goal, while
Lindita Selmani (SO/Brooklyn, NY) added a high shot.
Marah Lewis (JR/Mount Vernon, NY) came off the bench and added another shot on target rounding out the Blue and Orange's five total shots.
In goal, Carolyn Hough (JR/Plainedge, NY) faced 29 shots and recorded 11 saves.
Purchase returns to their home turf on October 2nd to face The City College of New York, with kickoff set for 7:00 p.m.
