DELHI, N.Y. - The Purchase College women's soccer team suffered a 4-0 defeat against SUNY Delhi on Wednesday night. With the loss, the Panthers fell to 0-3-0 on the season, while the Broncos improved to 1-0-0.
The hosts controlled the game from the start, breaking through in the 11th minute with a goal from Riley Schmidt, assisted by Shaniyah Myers. Despite strong efforts from Purchase goalkeeper
Carolyn Hough (JR/Plainedge, NY), who made several key saves, Delhi doubled their lead in the 37th minute.
Rebecca Quick (SR/Millbrook, NY) and
Lindita Selmani (SO/Brooklyn, NY) led the offense for the Panthers, with Quick recording three shots and Selmani adding two. However, the opposing defense held firm, denying any scoring opportunities.
The Broncos continued their dominance in the second half, scoring two more goals to secure a comfortable 4-0 victory.
In goal, Hough faced 31 shots and made 10 saves, while freshman goalie
Jill Creegan (High Falls, NY) made her collegiate debut in the second half, registering her first career save.Â
After a day of rest, the Blue and Orange will host their home opener against Brooklyn College on September 6th at 4 p.m.Â
