Panthers Face Narrow Defeat at Yeshiva

New York, N.Y. – The Purchase College women's basketball team came up short in a tightly contested Skyline Conference matchup, falling to Yeshiva University, 50-46, on Tuesday night.

With the results, the Panthers now sit 3-11 overall and 2-7 in the conference, while the Maccabees improved to 1-12 and 1-7, respectively.

Purchase opened the scoring at the 8:02 mark, courtesy of junior Charlee Neb's (Longmont, CO) pair of free throws, quickly followed up with a layup in the paint giving the Panthers a 4-0 lead. After losing the lead and some back-and-forth action, Carlye Graff (SR, South Nyack, NY) tied the game at 9 with a jumper, followed by a fastbreak layup to secure an 11-9 edge for the Panthers heading into the break.

The Blue and Orange continued steady offensive pressure over the next two periods, at one point holding an 11-point lead. Purchase entered the final frame with a nine-point lead, 37-29.

Despite have the edge, a fourth-quarter surge by Yeshiva, highlighted by a 21-9 scoring advantage, pushed the hosts to a narrow victory ending the game 50-46.

The Panthers shot 30.6% from the field, 27.3% from three-point range, and 61.9% from the free-throw line, while Yeshiva shot 27.9%, 19.0%, and 75.0%, respectively.

Individually, Graff led the Panthers with 12 points while Tvisha Sivaramakrishnan (FY, Purchase, NY) recorded 10 points, three rebounds, and four assists.

Neb contributed nine points, seven rebounds, and two assists and Halle Greaige (SO, Rye Brook, NY) added seven points and grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds.

The Panthers return home on January 16th for their next Skyline Conference matchup against Mount Saint Mary College at 7 p.m.
