Purchase, N.Y. – The Purchase College women's basketball team faced a tough matchup against Mount Saint Mary College (MSMC) on Tuesday night, falling by the score of 83-39.
With the result, the Blue and Orange are 3-12 overall and 2-8 in the Skyline Conference, while the Knights improved to 7-8 and 7-3, respectively.
The Panthers came out strong, winning the opening tip-off and scoring the game's first two points, courtesy of a jumper from Tvisha Sivaramakrishnan (FY/Purchase, NY) followed by two free throws by Neb. Purchase shot 38.5% in the opening frame and trailed by just 10 points at the end of the first quarter, 23-13.
Despite the solid start, MSMC found its rhythm and maintained consistent offensive pressure for the remainder of the game, securing the win at the final buzzer, 83-39.
Junior Charlee Neb (Longmont, CO) led the Panthers with a team-high 15 points, eight rebounds, and four assists.
Carlye Graff (SR/South Nyack, NY) added 10 points on an efficient 4-of-7 shooting, including two three-pointers and Jessica McHugh (SO/Ellenville, NY) added a spark off the bench with seven points and four rebounds.
After the weekend, the Blue and Orange travel to St. Joseph's University-Brooklyn on January 21st for a 6 p.m. game.
